Make a contribution from your IRA
If you are 70 ½ or older an IRA qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a terrific way to make a tax-exempt gift to SGS. Ask your IRA administrator to send your gift directly from your IRA account to the Seattle Genealogical Society.

Arrange for a Matching Gift
Many employers offer to match all or a portion of a contribution you make to SGS. Check with your personnel office to see if your employer will match your gift with an additional gift to SGS. We are registered with and eligible to receive matching gifts from several local employers, including Boeing, Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU), and Microsoft.

Give during a fundraising campaign
Throughout the year there are opportunities to contribute something extra to fund SGS programs and activities. Occasionally we may call for donations to acquire specific new equipment or library materials. Watch the SGS eNews! for fundraising announcements and plan to participate in these annual campaigns:

Membership Renewal - Membership dues alone are not adequate to sustain our library and activities. During the membership renewal period, May through June, consider including an additional contribution with your annual dues payment

Annual Appeal - Each year in December SGS conducts an Annual Appeal to solicit contributions from members and friends in the community. The holiday season provides many opportunities to make a donation to SGS - like "Giving Tuesday", the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Vendors may offer seasonal incentives for contributions made through their portals. For example, SGS may receive an extra 1% match from the Paypal Giving Fund, and service charges are waived, for amounts you donate online through your personal Paypal account: Paypal Giving Fund

Create your own fundraising campaign on Facebook
Do you use Facebook? You can create and share a fundraiser for SGS with your network of friends and family on your own Facebook feed. Offer a fundraiser in honor of a special day in your life or in that of your ancestor's, perhaps a birthday, anniversary, or immigration date. Find the "Create" menu on your Facebook page and scroll down to "Fundraiser." Then search and choose Seattle Genealogical Society from the menu of charities registered with Facebook.
